I always wanted to have a cute bow blouse that goe I always wanted to have a cute bow blouse that goes with all my outfits. In january I sewed a classic blouse from an original fifties pattern and I had to choose: A bow or no bow? I couldn't decide on that, so I made three neckline variations. The bow is not sewn to the blouse. Actually, it is only a "ribbon" from a scrap of fabric, which is adapted to the collar and reinforced, similar to a tie.
Do you want to make a such a bow too? Since I didn't use any pattern, I wrote a little tutorial on how I made this on my blog. You will find it today on lasercat.fashion - By the way, this post is also available in English. #lasercat #sewingblog #sewingblogger #diy #nähen #selbernähen #sewing #sew #creative #memade #sewingproject #dressmaking #schneidern #vintagesewing #vintagesewingpatterns #vintagestyle #fifties
I've been looking forward to this project for a lo I've been looking forward to this project for a long time: at the end of January I finally found the perfect fabric for my "Lamour Dress" from @gertie18 . I'm now creating my first off-the-shoulder dress from purple shantung fabric.
I need quite a bit of material for the dress:
Shantung, 3m , matching sewing thread, underlining fabric (taffeta), solid lining fabric (A leftover piece of purple crepe), steel boning for the bodice, cutter, end caps & tunnel tape for the boning, interfacing, crossgrain-ribbon, snaps and a zipper. #lasercat #sewingblog #sewingblogger #diy #nähen #selbernähen #sewing #sew #creative #memade #sewingproject #dressmaking #schneidern #charmpatterns #gertie #lamourdress
I already showed you the Strauss pattern framework I already showed you the Strauss pattern framework from 1955a few times here on my blog. But I havn't shown means all the blouses that I have sewn from it yet. This pattern variant should only be a muslin for a dress bodice that I wanted to try out. I used a fabric remnant from the crawl box of my sewing store, it was just 1.2m and it was barely enough for the blouse. But while I was sewing, I fell in love with this crazy comic fabric so much that it became more than just a muslin affair. 😎 #lasercat #nähblog #vintagestyle #diy #handgenäht #nähen #nähliebe
Pssst... Here's a little preview of my next blog p Pssst... Here's a little preview of my next blog post, which will appear on Wednesday. In keeping with the first harbingers of spring in nature, there is something green with me. 💚 This is not my new costume for St.Patricks Day, but one thing I can already reveal: This fabric has a very special history and it started over 40 years ago.... #lasercat #sewingblog #sewingblogger #diy #nähen #selbernähen #sewing #sew #creative #memade #sewingproject #dressmaking #schneidern
Books like this no longer exist today. Otherwise, Books like this no longer exist today. Otherwise, big pattern labels Burda & Co would look pretty fucked. After all, it's their business model to sell "new" variations of their tried-and-true patterns every month.
What would they sell, if every hobby-dressmaker could construct a thousand variations of garments on a basic pattern? I discovered this old, brown book from 1955 a few years ago during the household clearance of an old lady. Who would have thought back then that behind the brown cover with the snappy slogan "Live more beautifully, dress better, tailor yourself" hides such an ingenious system for thousands of great vintage patterns. Not only does it really work. It's actually super simple. You construct a basic pattern based on your own measurements. You can then use that to sew dozens of variations of blouses, dresses, and even jackets using a cardboard template. I've already sewn a few patterns with it and I'm sure there will be a few more. How exactly it works and how I tried it for the first time, you can read on my blog soon. #vintagesewing #vintagesewingpatterns #vintagestyle #lasercat #sewingblog #sewingblogger #nähblog #vintagepattern #sewingpattern #fifties #isewvintage
I've always wanted a black ruffle blouse. I love t I've always wanted a black ruffle blouse. I love the Victorian touch and the subtle goth style. However, a blouse with a cut ruffle is rather impractical. As soon as you pull a dress, cardigan or sweater over it, the ruffle underneath gets wrinkled and pushes through to the outside.
That's why I didn't have a blouse like this until now. So when I was sewing my black vintage blouse here, I had an idea: using the fabric scraps and some black lace, I sewed a ruffle jabot to button up. It's easy to attach to the buttons of the blouse above the button placket and just as easy to take off again. Pattern: StraußSparschnitt (1955)

I don't know how to embroider. I once cross-stitch I don't know how to embroider. I once cross-stitched a pincushion in elementary school and haven't tried it again since.
Embroidering by hand is pretty much out of fashion these days. After all, there are now smart embroidery machines and thousands of embroidery designs available for download on the web.
But embroidery can also be done with a normal household sewing machine! Most machines come with a wide selection of decorative and embroidery stitches. Machine embroidery thread can be used to create wonderful effects, like the embroidered hem for a child's skirt. I'll show you how it's done today in my latest post on the @berninanaehmaschinen blog. #lasercat #sewingblog #sewingblogger #diy #nähen #selbernähen #sewing #sew #creative #memade #sewingproject #dressmaking #schneidern
