What is better than a new vintage dress? Yes, a matching tiny car 😄 My friend's #isetta was just perfect for a little photoshoot of my latest dress. The dress is made from cotton poplin with a silk lining after an original 1957's pattern. A few weeks ago I wrote about undergarments and their benefits on my blog. Maybe you've wondered why your beautiful vintage dress sticks to your legs instead of swinging and flowing gently around your body? It's because of what you're wearing underneath! Until the seventies, the undergarment was an integral part of every woman's everyday wardrobe. Whether sewn into the dress as a lining like this one, or as a single garment that you could swap and wash at will. For my cotton dress here, I sewed the lining out of red silk. It's an undergarment and petticoat in one piece, and makes the skirt fall and swing perfectly. New dress! I have once again sewn an original vint

New dress! I have once again sewn an original vintage cut from 1957 and even found the right vehicle for the photoshoot 😅
The pattern comes from an old DIY magazine and came completely without sewing instructions and only in one size. After some adjustments, two test pieces and some fiddling I had it done: The dress was ready! Now that sounds super easy - but it wasn't. Because I learned so much in the process, I also recorded the whole thing on video and will soon show you on Youtube how to get from the fifties cut to the dress. The cotton fabric for the dress and the bias tape for the edges are a gift from @stoffehemmers.de . Thank you very much for the cooperation!
